Pool Entry and Access for local people
Pool Entry and Access for local people
An outdoor pool/ lido in Eastville Park would be managed for local people, to come for one-off visits, or as members or as groups.
One-off visits would cost approx. £4-5, with discounts for children, OAP’s and those on low incomes. People would pay by the visit. Booking and payment would be taken online.
Membership would be charged at approx £80 per summer season (20 weeks) and approx £60 per winter season (32 weeks) with an all round membership available as well. Members would then have free entry on the day but at busy times would still have to book.
Local use would be enabled and promoted for people in BS5 and BS16. For example the larger proportion of memberships would be reserved for people living locally.
Local groups would be encouraged to book slots at certain times. Local school groups, community groups, Muslim women's groups, groups of disabled swimmers, these can all be accommodated along with groups facilitated for example by local mental health teams.
The location of Eastville Park is the perfect spot for a lido, as there are so many people and community organisations in BS5 and BS16 within walking distance of the park. A lido that is sited near to a cafe and children's play area, within a park, enables families and groups to meet and enjoy the range of activities. The cafe by the lido would be a community hub for this.
Managing lido numbers can be achieved through online booking, which enables visits to be encouraged when the lido is quiet and limited when there are very hot summer days. Anyone wanting to visit would check on the day whether there are swim slots available. In this way the Lido can be managed so as to not attract large crowds.
